Answers to your frequently asked questions

Most people get used to using the artificial eye after a few hours, so that after a few days they don’t even feel its physical presence. In some cases, it seems necessary for people who cannot wash their eyes naturally due to the lack of tears, to use artificial tears, especially artificial tear drops that are special for artificial eyes.

The answer to this frequently asked question is different for each person. You learn how long you can keep your prosthesis in place through experience. Keep it in place as long as the foreign material is not stuck to your prosthesis. In simpler words, do not use the eye prosthesis as long as it does not bother you. With a little experience, you will be able to remove and clean the prosthesis before disturbing it. Many patients can use the prosthesis for 6 months to a year without removing it for washing. There are only a few people who need to remove their prosthetic eye for cleaning once a day, and a very few need to clean their prosthesis every morning and evening.

First of all, it is better to wash the eye prosthesis with baby shampoo or eye shampoos. If you do not have access to these two detergents, you can use liquid soap or even dishwashing liquid. But remember, never use alcohol or Vitex to disinfect the prosthesis.

Look at the butt against the right and left and up and down each 30 times and twice a day. This will help increase the range of motion of your artificial eye in the long run. But note that for normal daily tasks, we need 30 degrees of eye movement, and after 30 degrees of eye movement, we turn our head to see objects.
